‘Shifting slightly’ - 6th October 2020

From my point of view, I felt something unnatural about the person’s words and actions. On the surface, he was very friendly, enjoyed the conversation, and looked open. However, there was something that caught me at the edge of every word and action. Even though I sometimes had a glimpse of the secret expectation to be understood, I even wondered if the person was aware of it on his own. I felt like I heard a parallel line at the same time, hoping to be understood but at the same time wishing to hide. I sometimes wonder what that was. I even felt the similarity within myself.

When we were talking about the abstract story of “living like bamboo as the way to approach life.”, this person bubbled.

‘Searching for oneself is meaningless, after all. Eventually, we will reach the point of simply being selfless.’

That did click to me in an unexpected way, as reminding me of a theory in Buddhism. There was something in his words and deeds that shed light on the “blind spot” of my thinking.
