‘The random walks’ - 4th April 2021

When I travel, I love to walk my path without
planning. It is a play with my mind and my heart, as if making my heart sing
purposefully. Or testing out the magic of life itself. I would challenge what
the beautiful world could offer us to lead.

I also love to do a night walk randomly
through my neighborhood. There are other faces I could see even in the familiar
surroundings, as if I can see and have an internal talk with myself, sort of.
If you understand what I mean by it, I walk and observe the surrounding holding
my favorite thing to do, taking photographs, and simultaneously I am travelling
within my cocoon labyrinth. I imagine, create a story, and take a step forward
for the unknown.

What we see, shows who we are. Sometimes it
is true, sometimes it can be.

When I was studying for the NLP license
course a few years ago, we did a kind of experimental workshop as a group one
day. Roughly 10 of us were requested to sit at a café beside the window, which
you could see the busy street with passer-by for 30 minutes or so. Our focus is
on the street silently and we were supposed to report our findings during our
observation.

Interesting fact: None of us were seeing
the same scene, even though we all were sitting almost on the same spot, at the
same time. It was like ‘The elephant story’ – some only remember his ears, some
remembers the long nose, some remembers his long tail, etc.

One woman reported seeing a few pregnant
women, which I didn’t even notice seeing them, and was surprised that I missed
out such features of passer-by. Meanwhile, I clearly remember those young
teenagers who were dressing-up with some special unique costumes, and so focus
on taking a video of themselves.

Even if we were looking at the supposedly same
scenery at the same place, we realized that we were standing in different
perspectives.

When there is a discrepancy in a relationship,

‘You said this, you said that.’ ‘No, I didn’t
say, No I said that.’

Neither is necessarily from the same point
of view. There are many unfair situations in which the verbally fluent person
might look like having a point in the situation and might be convincing from
the third party who were not aware of the situation.

This workshop taught us the importance of listening
and understanding the differences in perspective. At the same time, it teaches
us that we don’t have to make a distorted judgement on ourselves due to
seemingly negative events that took place in our lives. Since the other person
may only remember a long string-like nose, which doesn’t show the whole YOU.
