‘Beyond superficiality’

‘Talking to you’ - 20th August 2020

Beyond superficiality

‘We can’t call ourselves free or brave when we keep running from the truth’ by Brene Brown

You would never know what you have until voicing out. Sincerity in faith, believing that life always is balancing out eventually.

‘There is this hidden borderline among the relationships between the locals and the foreigners. We think that the law would be moved by what is right and wrong. Not really in reality. There is a way, possibly only the locals know mutually, whatever you name it, as a bribe or so. But the point is, the lawyers or the judge tend to be on the side of the locals’

You might not bother those things when things are ok on the surface and life seems to be in tune with you. But once things get a little harder, the positioning of where you are standing would be critical, especially there are things or a person who you need to protect for, like children.

‘Spirituality is everything and everywhere’

‘The Water Calligraphy’ - 18th August 2020

This is a story from when I was around three years olds or even younger, before entering a kindergarten.

I am playing in a sandbox at the park near my house, holding a plastic scoop with my hand tightly. I was showing my back to my grandmother who was so into having a chat with neighbors. I crouched, digging a hole, with my back turned to my grandmother, who was sitting on a bench right next to the sandbox.

Water is already available in the bucket so that you can dig the earth deep and fill it later. Though I was so hooked by this act of digging, my ears might have been toward my grandmother, sort of sensing her move and the way she is navigating her stories to others, even showing my back to her. Meanwhile, my grandmother seemed so absorbed with her own storytelling that she was not aware of my whereabouts.

When I was little, my house was close to my grandmother’s house, about 3 minutes across the park. I remember that my grandmother had a little general store on the first floor of her house and I often went to get ice cream. She knew lots of people from the neighborhood because of her having this little shop, I guess.

Water is already available as if I was downloading something, something was flowing in front.

What do I catch in there?

Since more I am into the regular daily meditation, somehow my random memories started to float in my mind, especially in the early mornings soon after I wake up, or in the process of waking up.

‘Do not judge a book by its cover’

‘Let it flow for its own path’ - 15th August 2020

‘Do not judge a book by its cover’ - That was a hard lesson I needed to learn.

It is not that I was judging people with their looks or appearance. But seriously it was a tough lesson to perceive properly by always keeping a roll of ‘a silent observer’ at the back of my head. I could interact with all different kinds of people flexible if I want to. Though after this period of being my eyes tested, I needed to be more careful for myself with whom I would or should associate myself with.

It is a story from years back when I was living in a foreign country. Possibly you might say that was an easy thing to guess from the cultural difference therefore there was a language boundary.  Though you might understand my point, if you have ever experienced living in a foreign country for a while, started to mingle over with different people, that because of this language boundary, people tend to show us their true nature as if they assuming that we don’t understand them verbally anyway, or, they can get away with their own manipulation. In the end, it was their home ground, not mine. On the other hand, in order to understand the situation you are in as a foreigner, we tend to rely more on our senses to balance out our verbal or cultural gap, with which I found the most valuable lesson within.

Psychologically speaking, we do not function to ‘judge’ people only by verbal communication.

They say scientifically, how we perceive things or people are by :

Visual    85 %

Hearing   7% (Not only by what others are ‘saying verbally but also the tones of voices, the way we interact to each other, etc)

Tactile 3%

Smell 2%

Taste    1%

“You must learn to heed your senses. Humans use but a tiny percentage of theirs. They barely look, they rarely listen, they never smell, and they think that they can only experience feelings through their skin. But they talk, oh, do they talk.”

― Michael Scott, The Alchemist
